I will do a DRT shortlist at the DRT Facebook page as there are a lot of matches today. I am not going to research the F.A. Cup matches. I will list them below for reference via the betting market. The recent trend for Premier League sides in particular to field weakened sides in this competition means that team news is key. Team news can be found in the Line Ups at www.flashscore.com

SPANISH LA LIGA

12:00 - Deportivo v Levante - 2.1 Deportivo

  • 2-2 the last time these 2 met.

Deportivo (18th)

  • Only 1 win in 9 matches.
  • 4 losses in 5 matches.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Scored in 8 of their last 9 home matches.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • v 12th and lower at home, we see draw win, loss, win.
  • Opponents scored first in 8/10 at home.

Levante (17th)

  • Only 1 win in 15 matches.
  • Scored only 1 goal in their last 4 away matches.
  • Failed to score in 6 of their last 8 matches.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime away.
  • Like Depor, Levante are playing a team in the part of the league in which they garner positive results. 0-2 and 0-0 v 19th and 20th away.
  • 8 of 12 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • It must be stated that these 2 win rarely and they are playing sides at that area of the league where they perform well.
  • Depor are scoring regularly at home so I would expect a goal from them at some stage.
  • Other than that, I must state again that these 2 perform well v fellow bottom 4 sides.

15:15 - Valencia v Real Madrid - 1.68 Real Madrid

(Shortlisted match)

  • Both teams have scored in the last 10 heads to heads.
  • 2-1, 2-2, 2-1 scorelines for the last 3 home head to heads for Valencia.
  • Valencia have conceded first in 7/9 home matches against Big Two teams.
  • There have been +2.5 goals in 17/20 Real Madrid away matches.

Valencia (3rd)

  • All 4 defeats this season came within their last 7 matches.
  • 5 2-1 scorelines in the last 6 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • Only 1 home loss.
  • Not beaten a top 5 this season.Draws at home v 1st and 2nd.
  • Scored first in 7/10 at home.
  • Led at halftime in 6/10 at home.

Real Madrid (4th)

  • After 3 matches without a win, a comprehensive win last match.
  • No win in 4 away.
  • Unbeaten at halftime all season. A stat we used last match.
  • 0-0 away v 2nd the only away match v teams above them in the league.
  • 10 of 13 goals scored away came 1st half.
  • Led at halftime in 6/8 away matches.

Conclusions

  • This should be very competitive.
  • I would lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
  • Surely 2-1/1-2 has legs here, to trade out at 1-1? Look at head to heads, look at Valencia recently.
  • Note that Valencia tend to up their game v the big 2 so despite recent poor form, I expect them to perform here.
  • Real Madrid remain unbeaten at halftime. Do take a chance and lay Valencia in the halftime market if Valencia scores first in the first half.

17:30 - Malaga v Girona - 2.48 Malaga

  • 1-0 Girona the last time these 2 met.

Malaga (20th)

  • Only 3 wins.
  • 3 1-0 defeats and a 1-1 last 4 matches.
  • New manager only 1 match in - that was a 1-1 v Eibar.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Beat 7th and 18th at home.

Girona (10th)

  • 2 losses and a draw last 3 away.
  • Scored in their last 14 matches.
  • 3 wins out of 3 away v 14th and lower 0-1, 1-2, 1-2.

Conclusions

  • We cannot discount improvement from Malaga if their manager makes instant improvements. However, Girona tend to win when they have played strugglers. Tight matches 0-1 or 1-2 away v bottom 4 teams.

19:45 - Villarreal v Sociedad - 2.2 Villareal

  • 2-1 and 0-1 to Villareal  and 3-0 Sociedad in league match head to heads recently.

Villareal (5th)

  • 4 wins in 5 matches. 3 of those wins were 0-1 away.
  • Unbeaten at halftime at home.
  • Only 2 losses at home v 1st and 6th.
  • 7 of 8 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.

Real Sociedad (15th)

  • Only 1 win in 9 matches.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Only 3 away wins but muddling form.
  • 10 of 13 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Real Sociedad are that most irritating of teams, messy away form. They convincingly beat Villareal earlier this season. I would tentatively side with the home side today who have only 2 losses at home.

ITALIAN SERIA A

17:00 - Sassuolo v Atalanta - 2.16 Atalanta

  • Atalanta do not tend to lose head to heads.
  • Sassuolo's new manager has 7 games under his belt.

Sassuolo (14th)

  • 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss last 6 matches - new manager's influence?
  • Win, Win, Draw in their last 3 at home.
  • 1-0-0-1-1-1 conceded in recent matches.
  • Only 2 home wins v 4th and 17th.

Atalanta (8th)

  • A draw and 3 wins in their last 4 away.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • No 0-0.
  • 3 1-1 draws and a 1-2 win v 10th and lower away.
  • 100% over 1.5 goals away.
  • 11 of 15 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Another match clouded by a new manager seeming to impact positively upon the results.
  • A watching brief with in-play stats given Sassuolo are suddenly now winning at home.

19:45 - Chievo v Juventus - 1.38 Juventus

(Shortlisted match)

  • Juventus are unbeaten in the last 15 head to heads.

Chievo (13th)

  • 5 losses and 2 draws last 7 matches.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Not beaten a top 8 side home or away.
  • 0-0 at home v 1st and 5th. We saw Juve struggled v 0-0 side Genoa and only won 1-0. So Chievo will be looking at keeping Juve quiet.

Juventus (2nd)

  • 7 wins and a 0-0 last 8 matches.
  • 7 clean sheets in their last 8 matches.
  • 3 1-0 wins in their last 4 matches. Juventus may have to target another 0-1 today.
  • Failed to score in only 1 match.
  • Scored in their last 10 away.
  • Unbeaten at halftime away.
  • 100% wins home and away v 9th and lower.

Conclusions

  • Chievo may be aiming for a 0-0. They kept solid Napoli and Roma to 0-0 at home. I suspect Juventus will be happy with a 0-1 today as they were v Genoa, who themselves tend to keep very tight matches.
  • Like the Genoa game, Juventus tend to score 2+ goals v 9th and lower but as I say, may take a 0-1.

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP

15:00 - Barnsley v Fulham - 2.1 Fulham

  • A rare venture into the English Championship given the Premier league absence today. This Championship is a league I tend not to focus on because it is simply too competitive.
  • Fulham have won the last 3 head to heads.

Barnsley (19th)

  • 4 clean sheets in their last 7 matches.
  • 0-0, 1-1, 0-0 at home recently.
  • Not beaten a top 13 side this season.
  • Failed to score in 6 of 7 matches at home v top 11 teams.
  • 8 of 12 goals scored at home came 1st half.

Fulham (7th)

  • 5 wins and a 2-2 draw last 6 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 5 matches.
  • Scored 2+ goals in 5 of their last 6 matches.
  • Interestingly no win v 18th and lower away.
  • 1-1, 2-2, 1-0 loss, 2-1 loss, v 18th and lower away.

Conclusions

  • Fulham like meeting Barnsley in head to heads. Barnsley are yet to beat a top 13 side and having failed to score in 6/7 matches at home v top 11, it should really be a case of Fulham trying to score the 2 goals they have done recently and getting, at worst, a score draw.
  • 0-0 may be in play for Barnsley as you see with recently results but I would take on any late 0-0 given Fulham's scoring prowess recently.

15:00 - Brentford v Norwich - 1.97 Brentford

(Shortlisted match)

  • 0-0 and 1-2 Brentford last 2 matches.

Brentford (9th)

  • 5 wins in their last 6 matches.
  • 3 clean sheets in 4 matches.
  • No defeat in 13 matches at home.
  • Only 1 defeat at home v 14th was a 3-4.
  • 2-2-3-3-3 goals scored at home v 4th-14th inclusive.
  • 16 goals scored 2nd half at home.

Norwich (13th)

  • 3 wins in 5 matches.
  • 2 wins and a 0-0 last 3 away.
  • 4 away wins v top 12 were 0-1.

Conclusions

  • If Brentford score today they should not lose. And with 5 wins in 6 matches and unbeaten in 13 at home, it seems unlikely that Norwich will pull off yet another 0-1 away win v top 12.
  • If Brentford click they should score 2+ goals which should ensure a win and an avoidance obviously of that 0-1 defeat.

15:00 - Bristol City v QPR - 2 Bristol City

  • 2-1 Bristol City and 1-1 last 2 head to heads.

Bristol City (5th)

  • 3 losses and a 0-0 last 4 matches.
  • Failed to score last 3 matches.
  • No draw in 8 at home.
  • 7 0-0's at halftime is 50% of matches at home.
  • Unbeaten at home v 14th and lower but a wobble at home v 10th, 11th and 13th.
  • 13 of 20 goals scored at home came 2nd half.

QPR (16th)

  • Only 2 defeats in 7 matches.
  • 2 wins in 3 matches.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Only away wins v bottom 2.all defeats bar a 0-0 v 15th and higher.

Conclusions

  • Strictly on form, QPR should not win today so that is a ready angle. Despite the Bristol colley wobbles, they remain unbeaten at home v 14th and lower.
  • Strong score draws QPR so I would look to lay QPR if QPR score first.

15:00 - Ipswich v Wolves - 1.68 Wolves

(Shortlisted match)

  • 3 0-0's and a 1-0 Wolves win in the last 4 head to heads.

Ipswich (12th)

  • Only 1 win in 6 came home last match.
  • Very recent 1-0 loss v Wolves.
  • 0-0-1-1-1-1 scored since that Wolves loss.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Have lost the 3 home matches v top 7.
  • All defeats bar 1 v top 8 home and away.
  • 13 goals scored in the 1/2 hour after halftime at home.

Wolverhampton (1st)

  • Shock 0-2 loss v Nottingham Forest last match. Still a 9 point cushion at the top.
  • Failed to score in only 4 matches.
  • No defeat in 7 away matches.
  • Only lost 1 away match at halftime.

Conclusions

  • Ipswich recently lost to the Wolves 1-0 and since then have scored in their last 4 matches albeit just the single goal.
  • Wolves have failed to score in only 4 matches so that 0-2 loss last match was a big surprise.
  • Strictly on form Ipswich struggle v top 7 and with Wolves undefeated in 7 away, we have to incline towards the away side and league leaders.
  • Do note the high % of 0-0's at halftime Ipswich.

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE

15:00 - Aberdeen v Kilmarnock - 1.69 Aberdeen

  • Aberdeen tend to win head to heads.

Aberdeen (3rd)

  • Failed to score in 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • Unbeaten home and away v 7th and lower.

Kilmarnock (7th)

  • Unbeaten in 6 matches.
  • Unbeaten in 9 away matches.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime all season.
  • Scored and conceded in 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Only 1 away loss.
  • All 1-1 draws away v top 4.

Conclusions

  • 1-1 again for Kilmarnock v top 4 away? The market likes Aberdeen who have failed to score in 3 of 4 matches.
  • Do note Aberdeen are unbeaten home and away v 7th and lower.
  • Tough to call as 1-1 is a possible given Killy's away form.

15:00 - Celtic v Hibernian - 1.22 Celtic (Shortlisted match)

  • 2-2, 2-4 Celtic, 2-2 in the last 3 head to heads.

Celtic (1st)

  • Only 1 loss.
  • Failed to score only twice.
  • No defeat at home.
  • Draws at home v 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th so some vulnerability albeit without losing.
  • Conceded in all home matches v 4th-9th inclusive.

Hibernian (4th)

  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • 2-1-3-0-3 scored away v top 6 teams so goals are there.

Conclusions

  • Hibernian could be competitive here without winning. A score draw should be best case for them.
  • I would hope Hibs score 2 goals at least today and indeed lead 0-2 as I would lay them still.
  • What chance a 2-2? If Celtic lead 2-0, lay them too.

15:00 - Hamilton v Dundee - 2.3 Hamilton

  • 4 consecutive Hamilton head to head wins.

Hamilton (9th)

  • Only 6 wins but 2 wins in their last 4 matches.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Conceded in their last 8 and last 5 at home.
  • Dundee are in that section of the league where Hamilton win. Win, Draw, Win at home v teams below them in the league.

Dundee (10th)

  • A similar poor 6 wins only this season and 2 away wins within the last 4 away matches played.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • No away 0-0.
  • 12 of 18 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Oh dear, 2 sides each with 6 wins only this season. Hamilton I note are unbeaten v teams below them at home. Is that enough to side with them in a match featuring 2 teams who are hardly ultra reliable are they?

15:00 - Hearts v Motherwell - 1.92 Hearts

  • Hearts, Motherwell, Hearts in the last 3 head to heads.

Hearts (5th)

  • We saw just a couple of days ago a 3 match 0-0 sequence end.
  • 7 consecutive clean sheets now for Hearts.
  • No defeat in 10 matches.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Away from the big 2, 0-0, 0-0, 1-0 at home v 3rd, 4th and 6th.
  • Conceded 2 goals in only 2 home matches.

Motherwell (6th)

  • Only 2 wins in 12 matches.
  • 5 consecutive away defeats.
  • No 0-0.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
  • 3 away wins v 3rd, 9th and 10th.
  • Only 1 away win v top 8.

Conclusions

  • To put a context here, on a normal Premier League filled day, I would not research the SPL but feel the need to.
  • Lay any late 0-0.
  • Incongruous halftime stats so leaving that alone.
  • hearts are obviously in, erm, good heart at the moment with their clean sheets and with 5 consecutive away defeats for Motherwell, it seems that Hearts for me have the solid recent form, the solid defence to get something out of this.

15:00 - St Johnstone v Partick - 2.14 St Johnstone

  • 2 consecutive 1-0 wins at home for St J in recent head to heads.

St Johnstone (8th)

  • Only 4 wins since 26th August 2017.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in 6 of their last 7 home matches.
  • 1-0 and 0-0 at home v bottom 2.

Partick Thistle (11th)

  • 5 losses and a draw last 6 away matches.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • No win in 11 away.
  • 1-0, 0-0, 3-0, 1-1 v bottom 5 away.

Conclusions

  • Oh Lordy. 2 poor form sides. Another match to leave alone. Remember that the point of research is to find matches with strong angles and also find matches to avoid!

GERMAN BUNDESLIGA

14:30 - Bayern Munich v Hoffenheim - 1.22 Bayern (Shortlisted match)

  • 1-1, 1-0 and 2-0 .....to the Hoff in the last 3 head to heads. The foundation for a defeat?

Bayern (1st)

  • Failed to score only ....v the Hoff.
  • Only 2 losses this season, one v the Hoff.
  • 11 wins in 12 matches.
  • 6 2-0's at halftime at home.
  • Scored 2+ goals in all bar 1 at home.

Hoffenheim (9th)

  • 3 losses and a draw last 4 away.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • No 0-0.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in the 4 matches played v top 12.
  • 100% over 1.5 goals away.

Conclusions

  • Hoff have a great record v Bayern Munich recently. Surely not another shock? Value is in opposing Bayern on that basis but the Hoff away have been poor, conceding at least 2 goals v top 13
  • And with Bayern scoring 2 goals before halftime in 6 home matches, the Hoff might not be able to make it 4 consecutive unbeaten.
  • As ever with Bayern. If they concede first and early first half, lay Hoff in the halftime score market.

14:30 - Dortmund v Freiburg - 1.51 Dortmund (Shortlisted match)

  • Dortmund scored 3 goals in 4 consecutive head to heads until 0-0 last match.

Dortmund (6th)

  • Only 1 loss in 7 matches. Vast improvement under new manager now with 2 wins and 2 draws last 4 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.

Freiburg (12th)

  • Scored and conceded in 6 of their last 8 matches but lost only one.
  • 2 consecutive away score draws.
  • Only 1 away win though v bottom side.

Conclusions

  • This is a good opportunity for Dortmund. Freiburg are in good recent form but tend to concede heavily away from home. If that continues then Dortmund may reap rewards.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market. Freiburg are scoring and conceding recently so lay Freiburg if Freiburg scores first.

14:30 - FC Koln v Augsburg - 2.58 Augsburg

  • Not an immediately appealing match. I hope you know why by now? Yes, a favourite at odds of 2.4 or greater.
  • 5 matches in for the new Koln manager so those will be the ones I focus on.

FC Koln (18th)

  • 3 consecutive wins. Under new manager, 2 losses and 3 wins.
  • 3-4 loss v Freiburg was 3-2 with 2 mins remaining!! 1-0 and 2-1 at home so really should have been 3 home wins.
  • 2 goals scored in their last 2 matches.

Augsburg (8th)

  • Only 2 defeats in 7 came away.

Conclusions

  • And there I end. Koln are obviously renewed and their current form is not that of 18th so they may spring a surprise. A match for the in-play stats with a cursory nod towards Koln.

14:30 - RB Leipzig v Hamburg - 1.49 RB Leipzig (Shortlisted match)

  • 0-3 Hamburg and 0-2 Leipzig in the last 2 head to heads.

Leipzig (4th)

  • Scored and conceded last 5 matches.
  • Only 1 home loss.
  • Scored in their last 9 at home.
  • Scored 2+ goals in each of their last 5 at home.

Hamburg (17th)

  • 4 consecutive losses.
  • Only 1 away win came 2nd match of the season.
  • All defeats home and away v top 7 teams.

Conclusions

  • The odds look right here. Leipzig should be eyeing 2 goals at least here and that should ensure a win. Hamburg are poor away and simply keep losing to top 7 teams.

14:30 - Stuttgart v Schalke - 2.6 Schalke

  • 4 Schalke wins and a draw in the last 5 head to heads.

Stuttgart (14th)

  • 5 defeats in their last 6 matches.
  • No draw in 6 at home.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • Only 2 losses at home came v top 2.
  • Scored first in 6/9 at home.

Schalke (3rd)

  • Only 1 loss in 13 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 7 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • Scored in their last 13 matches.
  • No 0-0.
  • Not led at halftime away.
  • 6 wins and 2 draws home and away v 11th and lower.
  • 12 of 13 goals scored away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Strictly on form, Stuttgart have only lost to top 2 at home. Will that extend to 3rd?
  • Schalke themselves have 6 wins and 2 draws home and away v 11th and lower.

17:30 - Werder Bremen v Hertha Berlin - 2.34 Werder Bremen

  • 2 Werder wins and a 1-1 draw last 3 head to heads.
  • This is a Werder under new management and he is doing a sterling job.

Werder Bremen (16th)

  • Only 3 wins but more encouragingly, only 2 defeats in 6 matches.
  • 2 wins and 2 draws in their last 4 at home under new manager.
  • No 0-0 at halftime in 10 matches.
  • 2 consecutive home score draws.
  • All defeats this season came v the top 9.
  • But v the rest 6 draws and 2 wins!

Hertha Berlin (11th)

  • Only 2 defeats in 7 matches similar to Werder.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Scored and conceded in 9 of their last 11 matches.
  • Not beaten 6th-15th inclusive away from home.

Conclusions

  • This is a Werder steadying the ship. Both teams could score today and I would be keener in laying Hertha if Hertha score first.
  • Based on Werder, lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.

ENGLISH F.A.CUP

This competition is clouded by possible team changes particularly for Premier League sides.

12:30 - Peterborough v Leicester - 1.66 Leicester

  • League One v Premier League in this F.A.Cup match.

15:00 - Huddersfield v Birmingham - 1.79 Huddersfield

15:00 - Hull v Nottm Forest - 2.44 Hull

15:00 - MK Dons v Coventry - 2.34 MK Dons

15:00 - Middlesbrough v Brighton - 2.22 Middlesbrough

15:00 - Millwall v Rochdale - 1.54 Millwall

15:00 - Notts Co v Swansea - 1.91 Swansea

15:00 - Sheff Utd v Preston - 2.38 Sheff Utd

15:00 - Southampton v Watford - 1.94 Southampton

15:00 - Wigan v West Ham - 2.58 Wigan

17:30 - Newport County v Tottenham - 1.2 Tottenham (Shortlisted match)

19:45 - Liverpool v West Brom - 1.31 Liverpool (Shortlisted match)

TURKISH SUPER LIG

16:30 - Galatasary v Osmanlispor - 1.46 Galatasary

(Shortlisted match)

  • Galatasary won the 2 2017 head to heads.

Galatasary (2nd)

  • Only 4 defeats all came away from home.
  • All wins bar a 0-0 at home.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • 4-1-3-3 goals scored last 4 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • All home wins v 6th and lower.
  • 2-5 goals scored in home wins.
  • 5 of 7 goals conceded at home came 1st half.

Osmanlispor (14th)

  • 6 consecutive away losses.
  • No win away.
  • Conceded in their last 8 away.
  • Not led at halftime away.
  • Lost 1-0 away v 1st but scored and conceded without winning v 4th-10th inclusive away.

Conclusions

  • Osmanlispor may score today but not win. That is a ready angle into this match. Galatasary should score between 2-5 goals this match as they tend to do v 6th and lower in all wins.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market based on the expectation for goals.
  • Lay Osmanlispor in the halftime market if Osman score first and early in the first half.
